NeverBETtr notifies someone you trust when gambling shows up on your phone. To do that, it shares information about your gambling-related activity with the accountability partners you choose. That sharing is the product, and it only starts after you turn monitoring on and a partner accepts your invitation.
NeverBETtr is operated by Walker Innovations, LLC (“NeverBETtr”, “we”, “us”). This policy covers the NeverBETtr Android app and this website.
Your account. Your email address, the name you want your partner to see, your confirmation that you are 18 or older, and your time zone. If you sign in with a password, our sign-in provider stores it in scrambled form and we never see it. If you sign in with Google, Google tells us your email address and basic profile details (your name and profile picture). Our sign-in provider also records the internet address and the browser or device used each time you sign in.
Your phones. For each phone you set up: its model name, its Android version, the app version, the time zone it reports, a random ID the app creates each time it is installed, and an ID that lets us tell your phones apart and recognize one that is set up again. That second ID is scrambled on the phone together with your account, so only the scrambled version reaches us. Neither is your advertising ID, and neither can be used to follow you anywhere else.
Gambling sites. The app runs a VPN on your phone that reads the names of the sites your phone looks up and checks them against a list of gambling sites. Your browsing is not routed through our servers. When a site is on the list, the app sends us its name and the time. Sites that aren’t on the list are not sent or stored. For those, the app sends only a count (for example, “1,843 lookups checked”), so your partner can see that monitoring was working. Lookups still go to your network’s own DNS service. On a network that offers none the app can use, it sends them to Cloudflare’s public DNS service (1.1.1.1) instead.
Gambling apps. Which apps from our list of gambling apps are on your phone, and when one is installed or removed. We don’t collect a list of your other apps.
Whether monitoring is working. Whether monitoring is on, when the phone last checked in, and the phone settings that can stop it from working (for example, whether the VPN is running, whether Private DNS is hiding lookups, and whether Android is allowed to keep the app running). The app also reports how long the phone has been on and awake since it last restarted, which is how we tell a sleeping or restarted phone from a stopped app. We keep a record of when monitoring started, stopped or was turned off.
Your subscription. Your plan, its status and its dates. Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe and never reach us.
What we don’t collect. The content of pages you visit, your messages, your photos, your contacts, your location, or sites and apps that aren’t on our gambling lists.
A member gives us your name and email address when they invite you. We use them to send you the invitation, which names the member and says they are using NeverBETtr to stop gambling. Nothing else about the member is sent to you unless you accept.
If you accept, we also keep:
You can decline from the invitation email, and nothing more is sent to you. After you accept, you can stop at any time by writing to support@neverbettr.com. We will remove you and tell the member. If you decline or are removed, we keep your name, your email address and the record that you accepted until the member deletes their account, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
Our hosting provider logs standard technical details of each request, such as your internet address and browser, to keep the site running and secure. The website uses cookies to keep members signed in and to keep a partner’s dashboard link working.
If you arrive from one of our ads or links, the site also remembers which one, as a label such as “google / search-stop”, in a cookie for 30 days. We count visits for each ad as totals, with nothing about the visitor. If you sign up, the label is saved with your account, so we can tell which ads work. We don’t tell the companies whose ads you saw who visited or who signed up.
We use Microsoft Clarity to see how three pages are used, so we can make them clearer: our home page, the sign-up page and the page where you choose a plan. On those pages Clarity records what the page showed, how it was scrolled and what was tapped, and can replay that for us. It does not record anything you type. It never runs on your account pages, your activity or a partner’s dashboard, and nothing the app finds on a phone is ever sent to it.
Microsoft receives those recordings, with the address of the page (which says which of our ads you came from, if any) and standard technical details such as your internet address and browser. Clarity sets two cookies on this site: _clsk, kept for a day, so that the pages of one visit are counted as one visit, and _clck, kept for a year, so that it can recognize the same browser on a later visit. Microsoft also sets cookies of its own, on its own addresses, including ones it uses for advertising (such as MUID and CLID). Microsoft uses what it collects under its own privacy statement, which covers running and improving its products and advertising. With every visit we ask Microsoft not to use that visit for advertising, but its own cookies are set regardless, and how it treats that request is up to Microsoft. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, Clarity is not loaded for you at all.
If you join the iPhone waitlist, we keep your email address, and the ad label if there is one, to tell you when the iPhone version is ready and for nothing else. Write to support@neverbettr.com and we will take you off it.
We don’t sell personal information. Nothing the app finds on your phone, and nothing about your account or your partners, is shared for advertising or used to advertise to you or to anyone else. The one place another company’s advertising cookies appear is Microsoft Clarity, on three pages of this website, described under “Visitors to this website”.
Each of these handles information only to provide its service to us:
Microsoft is different. Through Clarity it receives the recordings described under “Visitors to this website”, and it decides for itself how to use them, within its privacy statement.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect someone’s safety or our rights, or as part of a sale or merger of the business. If the business changes hands, this policy continues to apply to the information we already hold.
When you delete your account, everything we hold about you is deleted from our database right away, including your partners’ details. Your active partners are notified first. Routine backups kept by our database provider expire on their own schedule, within 30 days. Stripe keeps its own record of payments, our email provider keeps its own log of delivered emails, and Microsoft keeps the recordings described above, under their own rules. The recordings aren’t linked to your account, so deleting it doesn’t remove them, and we can’t remove a single one.
Depending on where you live, the law may give you rights to know what we hold, to correct it, to delete it and to limit how it is used. We honor those requests from anyone, wherever they live, and we won’t treat you differently for making one. We may need to confirm it’s you first, usually by replying from the email address on your account.
Everything is encrypted on its way between your phone, your browser and our servers. Each member can reach only their own records, and partners never hold a login to our database. No system is perfectly secure, and we can’t promise that ours is.
NeverBETtr is for people aged 18 or older, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you believe someone under 18 has an account, tell us and we will delete it. NeverBETtr is offered in the United States, and our providers may process information in the United States and in other countries where they operate.
When this policy changes we will post the new version here and change the date at the top. If a change affects what is collected or who sees it, members are told before it takes effect. The app also asks you to agree before it starts collecting anything new.
